Summer Kids Camps 2010

Birds, bee balm, bugs and bobcats are just a few of the fun things we’ll be learning about at camp this summer in the Garden. Nature inspired, our camps converge art, science, gardening, exploration and fun! We offer weekly camps with both half and full-day options. *Full-day campers can bring a sack lunch and picnic with friends and instructors each day. Registration is required. Register online or call 801.581.8454. Camps fill up quickly, so register early.

*Please register your child for camps corresponding to the grade level they will be entering in the fall. Pre-K camps (children entering kindergarten) remain AM only and have been increased to 3-hour sessions.

Weekly Camp Cost:
Half Day (including Pre-K): Members: $105/ Nonmembers: $120
Full Day: Members: $210/ Nonmembers: $235

Summer camp shirts are available for an additional $10. Please specify size at time of registration.


Refund policy:
If you need to cancel your registration, a refund, less 20% processing fee, will be given up to one week prior to the class/program start date. No refund or credits will be given for cancellations made less than one week prior to the class/program start date.

Cottam’s Nature Detectives

Back by popular demand, Cottam’s Nature Detectives camp is filled with adventure and exploration. From incredible animals and edible plants, to map reading, art and weather studies, you’ll experience a new adventure every day!

Wondrous Watercolors
Partner Camp with University of Utah Continuing Education

It's a big, beautiful world full of color and now you can show your view of it. Make colors dance across your paper through the art of watercolor painting! Discover the magical tricks of color theory by painting something as grand as a cityscape or as delicate as a butterfly. Come away from this course with beautiful paintings and a fun new artistic skill.

Aquatic Adventures

Join us for a week of riparian adventures at Red Butte Creek and discover the plants, insects, and animals that thrive in and around the water. The week will include water quality testing, June Sucker and insect studies, and fabulous art projects.

AUGUST 9-13

Bats, Bobcats and Other Amazing Creatures of Red Butte

There are so many spectacular animals living at the Garden, we need an entire week to showcase them all. Beginning with bats and bobcats, we’ll also be investigating owls, snakes, fox, coyote, hawks, eagles, kestrels, ermines, rabbits and much more! Don’t miss out on this action packed week of naturalist studies, art, and exploration.

Garden Gastronome: Plentiful Harvest and Fantastic Food

Join us for a week that will make your mouth water! We’ll be harvesting herbs and veggies from our organic gardens, preparing inspiring recipes, then enjoying delicious, fresh food with our friends! This fun filled camp includes fresh food, aprons, and recipe books for all participants.
