The Rhythm Devils features Grateful Dead drummers, Mickey Hart, Bill Kreutzmann and newest band addition Keller Williams. The band will also include Nigerian drummer Sikiru Adepoju (Babatunde Olatunji, Planet Drum), blues-rock guitar player Davy Knowles from Back Door Slam and Andy Hess on bass. The Rhythm Devils had their origins as an informal but frequent fixture in the Grateful Dead concert repertoire. Starting in the mid-to-late 1970s, and continuing until the Grateful Dead's last concert in 1995, most Grateful Dead concerts featured an extended segment during the 2nd set of improvisational drumming and percussion by Hart and Kreutzmann who took over the stage as a duo (with occasional guests). Fans referred to this segment of the concert performance as "Rhythm Devils"or "Drums". A Rhythm Devils performance will include music from the Grateful Dead catalog, past Rhythm Devils music, as well as new collaborative material. We are thrilled to be a part of this tour, and are very excited to see these exceptionally talented musicians on stage together.
