I enjoy everything about being outdoors– the sounds, smells, colors and rapidly changing light. “En plein air” (literally“in plain air”) painting affords a great opportunity to study nature in all of its natural beauty, challenging the artist to capture the immediate impression of what the eye sees. This is the creative process that inspires and motivates me to get out and paint as often as possible! I strive to impart a fresh, painterly translation of the subject to suggest the essence of what I am seeing--whether painting outdoors or in the studio.
