Desert Purple Sage is native to the southwestern corner of Utah and ideally suited for adaptation to a garden setting. It can be grown with no additional irrigation once established.
The purple-blue flower spikes adorn this mounding shrub in late spring creating a wonderful 3-foot tall and wide garden gem. The flowers attract butterflies and hummingbirds. The evergreen, silvery-gray leaves have a wonderful sage-like fragrance and are not browsed by deer or rabbits.
When finding a place for it in your garden; seek out a hot, dry area with well draining soil. It is fast growing and will flower even when rather small. It is sure to be an impressive addition to the low water use garden all year long.
