Red Butte Garden offers many education programs that rely on volunteers! If you like people, enjoy plants and nature, and can communicate well, you may enjoy being an education volunteer. School Programs Field Class Instructors

Explore Red Butte Garden's outdoor classroom while sharing your knowledge of plants and animals with children. Each year volunteers lead thousands of school children through the Garden for a unique learning experience that highlights topics found in the science core curriculum of their grade level. To learn more information about joining this exciting team as an education volunteer please call Marianne Zenger at (801) 585-5688.

Training:

20 hours of training and on-going continuing education is offered.

Commitment:

4 hours per week during peak seasons April - June, September - October.

Age Requirement:

20 years old

Garden Guide

Interested in sharing your love of plants with others? Come learn about Red Butte Garden, its plant collections and history. We'll teach you how to share your knowledge with others by leading tours, hosting programs and being an ambassador for the Garden.

Youth Programs Host

Come party with the Youth Programs! Assist with Kids Classes, Birthday Parties, and Camps.

Commitment:

20 hours per year

Horticulture Volunteers

Horticulture Volunteer

Learn more about plants while helping maintain our plant collections.

Commitment:

3 hours per week, positions available March-October

Age Requirement:

15 years old

Greenhouse Volunteer

In addition to growing and caring for young plants, greenhouse volunteers design and care for the Garden's annual displays.

Commitment:

3 hours per week, positions available year-round

Age Requirement:

15 years old

Plant Records Volunteer

Help label Garden greenery while learning plant identification.

Commitment:

3 hours per week, positions available year-round

15 years old

Irrigation and Maintenance Volunteer

Cool off with our irrigation crew and help maintain garden water lines and trails.

Commitment:

3 hours per week, positions available year-round

Age Requirement:

15 years old

Plant Conservation Volunteers

Learn more about native plants and natural area maintenance. Assist with restoration projects, collect native seeds, remove invasive plants, and maintain trails species.

Eagles Scout Projects available.

Commitment:

3 hours per week, positions available year-round

Special Event Volunteers

Help with special events and fundraisers, including plant sales, garden galas, outdoor concerts, family festivals, special exhibitions and more.

Commitment:

20 hours per year, positions available year-round

Administrative Volunteers

Located in beautiful, historic Fort Douglas, our administrative offices offer volunteer opportunities in communications, fundraising, education, membership, or volunteer administration.

Visitor Center Host

Meet and greet Garden guests, assist customers with gift shop purchases, admissions and respond to visitor inquiries.
