Canyon Connections: Linking History, Horticulture, and Community

Presented by Lynsey Nielson, Horticulturist

Red Butte Canyon is a protected watershed teeming with diverse plants and wildlife. Just east of Red Butte Garden and Arboretum, this unique canyon is a designated Research Natural Area managed by the U.S. Forest Service. It is the only canyon along the Wasatch Front closed to the public, protecting its unique ecosystem and supporting ongoing scientific research.

Beyond its ecological significance, Red Butte Canyon holds a rich human history, including deep ties to Utah’s past. Join one of Red Butte Garden’s lead horticulturists, Lynsey Nielson, as she unravels the fascinating history and hidden mysteries of this remarkable landscape and Red Butte Garden’s place within it.

Tickets are $15 for Garden members, $20 for public
