What a wonderful start to May we've had. Pleasant temperatures, agreeable weather, and an abundance of flowers to enjoy, and to top it off our Spring Plant Sale starts this weekend!

Korean Spice Viburnum (Viburnum carlesii)

It's that time of year! The viburnums are in full bloom filling the Garden with their sweet perfume.

Goldrush® Amur Cherry (Prunus maackii 'Jefree')

Delicate clusters of white flowers cover this beautiful tree in spring.

Mountain Lover (Paxistima myrsinites)

This underutilized native evergreen can be found in the shaded area at the bottom of the Great Wall.

Shortstyle Bluebells (Mertensia brevistyla)

Watch for this dainty little native under the oaks in the Natural Area.

Creeping Oregon Grape (Mahonia repens)

The ever-present native Mahonia is a common site in our foothills including our Natural Area.

Heart-leaved Globe Daisy (Globularia cordifolia)

Though, not a true "daisy" its flowers do resemble some in the Aster family.

Eastern Redbud (Cercis canadensis)

These distinctive trees do well in our climate and can tolerate short periods of drought.
