Garden Visit Accessibility
Our main Garden paths, Visitor Center, Sprout House, Rose House, Orangerie, and Amphitheatre are wheelchair and stroller accessible. There is a ramp located on both sides of the Visitor Center parking lot, leading to the Visitor Center entrance, along with push-to-open buttons on the doors. There are two elevators in the Visitor's Center to access the second floor and entrance to the Garden's outdoor space.
Please note:
- Garden paths may be impacted by weather conditions.
- The turnstile exits are not wheelchair accessible; however, guests can exit through the Visitor’s Center.
- While recently updated and newer areas of the Garden such as the Water Conservation Garden, meet current ADA standards, some older sections of the Garden may be harder to navigate, such as Four Seasons and Waysides paths, which have steeper inclines.
- The Natural Area hiking trails are unpaved and not accessible for wheelchairs.
- Pick up a Garden map when you arrive or find it HERE.
Community Free Admission Programs
Red Butte Garden and Arboretum partners with community organizations to make the Garden accessible to as many people as possible. Please review our General Information page for more information about discounted admission.
We also offer six free admission days thanks to Salt Lake County Zoo, Arts & Parks. (ZAP)
Wheelchairs
We offer 4 complimentary wheelchairs for guests to borrow on a first-come, first-serve basis. Let the front desk staff know you would like a wheelchair, and they will be happy to assist you. At the end of your visit, please return the wheelchair to the front desk. We do not offer motorized wheelchairs or scooters.
Restrooms
The public restrooms in the Visitor's Center have accessible stalls and there are also two private, "family" restrooms.
Complimentary Tours
From May to September, we offer complimentary tram tours led by volunteer docents. We have a wheelchair-accessible tram cart equipped with a ramp that allows guests in wheelchairs to exit and enter. For more information visit the Garden Tours page HERE.
