Officially opened in 1985, Red Butte Garden is Utah's Botanical Garden. We have approximately 100 acres, with 21 acres as themed gardens, 70 acres of natural area, and five acres in Cottam’s Oak Grove. Our location is unique in that we have a large natural area, which provides wonderful opportunities to teach about the local ecosystems, and we are located along the foothills providing wonderful views of the valley, extending mountain ranges, and the Great Salt Lake.
In addition, the State Arboretum of Utah is found collectively on the University of Utah campus and at Red Butte Garden.
Themed gardens include: the Four Seasons Garden, Herb Garden, Children's Garden, Fragrance Garden, Floral Walk, Medicinal Garden, Water Pavilion Garden, Rose Garden, Wildflower Meadow, Water Conservation Garden, and others. Stay tuned for more information about our themed gardens as we continue to update this page.
