RED BUTTE GARDEN PICNIC POLICY
Due to limited space and facilities, Red Butte Garden requests that guests adhere to the following rules and policies when planning a picnic in the Garden.
All Groups
- Red Butte Garden is a botanical garden, not a public park. To preserve our gardens and plant collections, sporting games and cooking of food are not allowed. We are not able to store or refrigerate any food.
- Please pack up and remove all garbage and food materials you bring into the Garden. Leave no trace.
- Please do not move any of the Garden's tables, chairs, or benches.
- The Amphitheatre, Rose Garden, and Fragrance Garden are used as private event facilities and are open to group picnics on a space-available basis only.
- Groups picnicking in these areas may have to relocate in order to accommodate previously scheduled private event rentals.
Groups of 1-10
- No reservations are required.
- Visitors may picnic anywhere in the Garden on a space available basis.
- Table seating is limited to the Courtyard, Wayside Rests, and Creekside picnic areas.
- Other areas offer bench or lawn seating.
Groups of 11-24
- No reservations are required.
- The Four Seasons Garden lawn or lawn areas east of the Water Pavilion are recommended.
Groups of 25 or more
- Reservations are required. Depending on the details of the group, fees and damage deposit may be required.

School Groups
- School groups are not permitted to picnic inside Red Butte Garden.
- The Garden's Programming staff can provide school groups with a list of local public parks for picnics.
