Bursting with Blooms
Submitted: April 16, 2021, 9:32 a.m.
April has certainly started off with a bang. The Garden's 500k bulbs have painted a colorful backdrop for the next wave of blossoms.

Manchurian Apricot (Prunus mandshurica)
While this apricot's blossoms may be waning, its cousins in the genus are just getting started.

Yoshino Cherry (Prunus x yedoensis)
Known in Japan as Sakura, flowering cherry trees are a sure sign that spring is here to stay.

Cherry Plum (Prunus cerasifera)
Purple-leaved varieties of Cherry Plums are commonly planted street trees that produce cherry-sized edible fruits.

Royal Star Magnolia (Magnolia stellata 'Royal Star')
Fuzzy buds open to display delicate white flowers.

Leonard Messel Magnolia (Magnolia x loebneri 'Leonard Messel')
This pink-flowered magnolia greets you as you take your first steps into the Garden.

What's next?
Stay tuned. Our lilac collection is getting ready to put on its yearly spring display.
