For the Birds!

The Garden isn't just for flowers, it's for the birds too!
American Robin (Turdus migratorius)
Robins are a common sight amongst fruit in the winter.
Black-capped Chickadee (Poecile atricapillus)
These birds hide seeds and food items separately for later. They can remember thousands of hiding places. I wonder how many they have in the Garden!
Spotted Towhee (Pipilo maculatus)
These guys are shy and solitary. They are often seen, but mostly heard, rummaging through leaves looking for bugs.
In case you have ever wondered what the greenhouse looks like in the winter, wonder no more! Here's a few peeks inside...
Jamaican Poinsettia (Euphorbia punicea)
This is an evergreen succulent shrub native to the Caribbean. It lives in the greenhouse until it gets put into a container for display.
If you are looking for solitude and you don't mind the birds, Red Butte Garden is the perfect choice. Come count how many birds you can see and hear!
