Happy New Year 2024!

The first crisp whispers of January wind rustle through Red Butte Garden, carrying with them the sweet scent of promise and possibility. They beckon you to step into the Garden, to feel the cool earth beneath your feet, to breathe in the invigorating air that cleanses both body and soul. Visiting the Garden in winter is an entirely different experience than any other time of year. Some days are so quiet it feels like you have the whole place to yourself.
Incense Cedar (Calocedrus decurrens)
While the deciduous trees sleep away the winter, our conifers stand guard, evergreen and proud.
Weeping Colorado Blue Spruce (Picea pungens 'Pendula')
Blue spruce needles always look extra stunning in the winter.
Blue Grouse (Dendragapus obscurus)
Can you find our uncommon Garden visitor in this image?
AlleeĀ® Lacebark Elm (Ulmus parvifolia 'Emer II')
Winter is a great time to observe the unique colors and textures of tree bark.
Oh! Hello.
I didn't see you there.
I just wanted to tell you that winter is a great time to see wildlife that are less common during the busy spring and summer months.
Happy New Year from Red Butte Garden. May your year be as vibrant, resilient, and full of life as the gardens we share.
