We're nearing the end of August, and while many are back at school, summer is not over yet! Come enjoy the summer wind down with cooler temperatures at Red Butte Garden.

September Ruby Aster (Aster novae-angliae 'Septemberrubin')

This beauty can be seen in a few different places in the Garden, but you'll have to visit to find out where.

Pot Marigold (Calendula officinalis)

This annual is used as a topical medicine for skin ailments. The specific epithet 'officinalis' denotes that it has been used in herbal medicine for a long time.

Baikal Skullcap (Scutellaria baicalensis)

This is a medicinal plant that has been used for thousands of years. The roots are used to enhance liver function. It can be seen growing in the Medicinal Garden.

Sweet Autumn Clematis (Clematis terniflora)

The flowers from this vine are sure to catch your nose's attention. It can be smelt in the Fragrance Garden.

Yellow Horned Poppy (Glaucium flavum)

This plant has a multitude of uses, including an oil from the seed can be used as a fuel for lighting, as it burns cleanly.


Don't let August pass you by without visiting the Garden.
